Unity Ball 2017


Rayceen Pendarvis was invited to serve as a celebrity judge for Unity Ball 2017.  Icon Jack Mizrahi served as the commentator, with music provided by the Legendary DJ Vjuan Allure




The ball was one of several official DC Black Pride kick-off events.  “Tonight is all about UNITY” read the promotional fliers for the ball, which aimed to award $750.00 dollars to the Grand Prize Winner, with overall cash and trophies exceeding $1,000 dollars. 



The ball was officially presented by Icon Charles Khan, Legendary Duante Balenciaga, and Twiggy Pucci Garçon, in association with Impulse Group DC.  

DC Black Pride and Us Helping Us, People Into Living, Inc. served as co-sponsors.





Impulse Group DC, is a chapter-based organization dedicated to HIV advocacy, safer sex education, whole care health, and the overall affirmation of gay men.  


The festivities were filmed by New York based Ballroom Throwbacks.  Although originally scheduled to be held at Freedom Plaza, just prior to the event the ball was relocated to the Hamilton Crowne Plaza in Washington, DC.

Sexy & Silver: Pre-Pride Mixer


Rayceen Pendarvis was invited to host the Sexy & Silver: Pre-Pride Mixer.  The event was designed to “celebrate the mature and seasoned individuals in the LGBT community,” and served as one of several official DC Black Pride kick-off events.  





The mixer featured an open bar, complimentary food, gift bags and performances by Roz White, Peace Jah, and Alicia Kelly.  The legendary DJ Vjuan Allure provided the music for the evening. 



The event was presented by Impulse Group DC and held at Kabin Lounge in Washington, DC.

One Night Only!


Rayceen Pendarvis was invited to co-host the LGBT talent competition One Night Only!  Pendarvis was joined by co-hosts Erika Chloe Adams and Marlowe Septimius (aka Marlowe Rainbow).  



Participants in the competition were awarded cash prizes totaling $1,600.  A portion of the proceeds were donated to Joy Baltimore - a resource & outreach center for homeless and runaway youth that specializes in assisting members of the LGBTQ community. 



The event was presented by Men of Rainbow and held at Club Bunns in Baltimore, Maryland.

2017 Capital Trans Pride Day Open Mic


Rayceen Pendarvis was invited to host the 2017 Capital Trans Pride Day Open Mic.  The event was one of many held at the 2017 Capital Trans Pride Day.  



Each year, the event aims to bring together members of the Transgender community, allies, colleagues, family, and friends for a day of celebration, workshops, and panel discussions on a variety of issues important to the Trans community.




The festivities were presented by Whitman-Walker Health and Booz Allen HamiltonTeam Rayceen served as a Gold Sponsor for the event which was held at the Studio Theatre in Washington, DC.

Reel Affirmations XTRA Presents: First Girl I Loved


Rayceen Pendarvis was invited to host Reel Affirmations XTRA Presents: First Girl I Loved.  Director Kerem Sanga's film focuses on Seventeen-year-old Anne (Dylan Gelula), who falls in love with Sasha (Brianna Hildebrand), the most popular girl at her LA public high school.  



When Anne confesses how she feels to her best friend Clifton (Mateo Arias) - who has always harbored a secret crush for her - he does everything he can to sabotage her potential romance with Sasha.





Reel Affirmations - Washington DC’s International LGBT Film Festival - is one of the largest LGBT film festivals (in terms of attendance) in the United States.  Each month the organization consistently offers new and exciting international, documentary, short, and feature films, as well as panel discussions, filmmaker Q&As, and various celebrations.  



The theatrical screening was held at the Human Rights Campaign Equality Center in Washington, DC.

The ARTOMATIC 2017 Finalé


Rayceen Pendarvis served as host and co-sponsor of The ARTOMATIC 2017 Finalé.  Joining Pendarvis were co-hosts Curt Mariah, Tim Trueheart, and Krylios Clarke with music provided by DJ Joe Audio



The variety show featured stand-up comedy by Curt Mariah and Tim Trueheart, music by Nia Simmons, Starranko, Quineice, Khadijah Moon, Jeremiah Welch, Aflocentric, and Huggie Hugster, poetry by Rae Monet, burlesque by Private Tails, and a special dance performance by Faerika Bella of Hoop Magick.  Dawn Tree also delighted the audience by drawing a painting during the event.








The show also featured two very special guests, Barbara Favola - a Virginia State Senator, and Justin Ayars, JD - Publisher & Editor-in-Chief of Unite Virginia (co-sponsors of the event as well as the publisher of Q Virginia magazine).





The ARTOMATIC 2017 Finalé was held at a temporary venue located at 1800 South Bell Street (Stage #5 - 5th floor), in the neighborhood of Crystal City, Arlington, VA.  The finalé was followed by Rayceen’s Dance Party, which was then followed by the official after party at Freddie’s Beach Bar.
